Nostalgia

I composed this poem for an English Versification competition... Please tell me how it is. (the topic was Nostalgia)

As I look back on my past,
The memories come back to me so fast.
Good things that just had to happen,
Bad things that made my spirit dampen.

I saw myself flash before my eyes,
Sometimes laughing, sometimes crying.
I saw my childhood, full of lies,
So many promises, most of them dying.

"Look at all the good things"
I seemed to tell myself.
So I walked left quickly,
Toward the 'Good Events' Shelf.

Well, it was all there,
The happy moments of  my life.
I saw myself, full of laughter,
Around me, there was no strife.

I spotted myself somewhere, smiling,
'twas the first day of school.
On my face broke a widespread grin,
As I jumped into a large pool.

I flipped through all my good memories,
All of them making me smile.
They somehow gave me wonderful strength,
To run through life, mile by mile.

Love

I know it's very short but it still feels "Complete" to me.

When some people look at you

And on their face is a smile,

Then they seek Love from you

A companion going the extra mile.

Love cannot be ruled over

It's greatest of all emotions,

And once in your life (at-least)

Of it you must get a portion.

The Human Tongue

This is a poem I wrote on the human tongue (actually on what we do with it)...

It has the power to hurt 
But also to give pleasure

It's responses might be curt

Yet can be thought out with leisure

It is quite as strong

To be both good and bad

Yet it can be weak

When you feel happy or sad

What everyone thinks of it

Actually depends on you

For it says only your thoughts

Be they red or blue...

The Goal of Life

I don't know why my poems are mostly on the topic 'Life'... 
It's just what "comes" to my mind. 

It sometimes goes up

It sometimes goes down,

Yet it won't be right

To give it a frown.

See, some call it crazy

Some call it unfair,

Some know about the fact

That it can be changed if you dare.

Life is a bit too short

To shrug and just not care,

About the sadness dark 

And all the happiness fair.

So just pause for a moment

And think if you're doing it right,

Say "I'll always enjoy my Life!"

And keep this goal in sight.

Love to Nature

I composed this one while in the car on a long trip as I gazed at the scenic beauty of Nature.

Is it the bright green color

Or is it the pure fresh air

Or is it the gentle sweeping breeze

That lovingly tousles my hair?

Could it be the pride

Of the big trees tall?

Or the simple humility

Of  the young flowers small?

Be whatever it may be

That makes me love it so,

I love God's creation - Nature

And that's all I need to know

The Cost (Christian)

This is a poem I composed a long time ago for all my Brothers and Sisters in Christ out there...

Do you know how much it cost

To have your sins on the Cross?

It cost a life, and so much strife,

The life of GOD,
 Hung on two rods.

It was so hard, 
A deed so large,

Dead innocent,
 Because of the living insolent.

Why did it happen?

Don't let your spirit dampen,

Because it cost a lot

A person lost

To have your sins upon that Cross...
